There is something about a homemade gift in a little jar that is just so special.
The fact that someone took the time to make it, wrap it and create it just for you, is really what makes holiday gift giving a heartwarming experience.
I know what you’re thinking. Who has the time? But seriously, I made these adorable little brown sugar body scrubs in less than 10 minutes flat. And they are 100% all natural.
This week we had our first little snow storm in NJ. I have to say, I loved it! It was so festive! I don’t think anyone minds snow in December, especially around Christmas time. But, with the cold weather and stress of the holidays, the combination can do an awful number on your skin. Exfoliating with a simple sugar scrub is key to removing dry skin, so that when you use moisturizer, it can actually sink in.
I’ve tried looking for all natural sugar scrubs, but sometimes they are hard to find, not to mention they tend to be expensive. Nothing makes me more crazy then when I pick up a beauty product in the store and it’s full of a list a mile long of chemical ingredients I can barely pronounce. A sugar scrub with a million ingredients…go figure…when all you really need is, well…sugar!
So, one day I thought… how hard can it be to make my own? Besides, I can add my favorite scents to the scrub by simply adding in some essential oils.
I tried it. I loved it. And I’ve been making sugar scrub ever since. All you need is brown sugar, coconut oil (or any natural oil of your choice) and your favorite essential oil(s). With the holidays approaching, I’m in love with peppermint essential oil! It’s invigorating, your bathroom will smell amazing and your skin will be as soft and smooth as a baby’s bottom! Eucalyptus essential oil is great to use during a shower or bath in the winter too, especially if you have a cold, since it helps to relieve congestion and clear nasal passages. Lavender essential oil is the perfect calming scent and great to use before bedtime.
I thought packaging up these little scrubs and tying them with cute ribbon and labels would make adorable stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, party favors or even a special treat for yourself for all the hard work you’ve been putting in to make the holidays special! After all, you deserve it!
